Well, fabric stores should start stocking wool within the next month since fall's coming in a month after that. I'm waiting for that myself :3
Lucky! I haven't had a chance to get it yet.

WTF, how is anyone supposed to top this?! XDD

I'm cosplaying as him at the Anime Matsuri (tis not anime, but who cares? XD) and I'm really worried about my costume. I figure that as long as hair and makeup is good, the outfit doesn't matter nearly as much, but it would help if it looked good >.>

wow thats great! :wow:
I only had my giant hat for the cinema, but I think it's not half good as yours!
What fabric did you use for it?
Reply
:iconandycamcosplay:
andycamcosplay Featured By Owner Mar 6, 2010
shape was made with some foam core (like cardboard) then covered with some velvety styled material with designs already in it. then i just spraypainted with appropriate colours
Reply
:iconkozmotispitchiner:
KozmotisPitchiner Featured By Owner Mar 9, 2010
Yeah I used cardboard and normal cotton so it didn't look very much like the original hat. So you used velvety... I was thinking perhaps my second hat made out of something like leather cause at some scenes it has a special shine... I can't decide^^

Ah and another question did you glue it it or sew it?
And more important how did you make the hat needles? *.*

:iconandycamcosplay:
andycamcosplay Featured By Owner Mar 9, 2010
oh yeh, now that ive seen the movie a few times a leathery type of material would be SOOO much more accurate. then with leather cord sewn in at the edges. but yaha, my hat was only really just glued together and then the edges were covered with satin binding to neaten it up. hatpins were just skewers with modelling clay that i shaped into the correct designs. (the blue gem is just hot glue shaped into a ball and coloured with blue ink =P)

wow thanks, you helped me a lot and gave me new ideas!!

And how you made the hatpins was only brilliant!
